What is SYG Seniors!!
SYG Seniors is a group for young people in school years 7 -9 (Age 11-14yrs).
We meet on Monday evenings (during term time) in the Marven Centre at Sawston Village College, at 7.30pm – 9.00pm.
What do we do!
A typical term from
September to April consists
of a structured weekly programme, activities may include: crafts, projects,
guest speakers, team building, life skills, bowling, disco and carol service
to name a few.
The programme is never the same, with newactivities
each term.
May – July is the time for
us to enjoy the summer weather and embark on a range of outdoor activities,
these may include: punting, wide games, laser tag, BBQ and
canoeing/kayaking.
We have the opportunity to take part in the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme, starting at Bronze level, and at 15yrs, we move to the Amicus group to continue through Silver, right the way to Gold.
Every year, we are able to go on the groups annual five day
residential takes place during the first weekend of the summer school
holidays. We visit a different site each year with the aim of trying new
activities, learning new skills and making new friends – it’s not to be
missed!
The motto of SYG is to provide opportunities for
young people and we strive to do this through a varied weekly programme
along with many additional activities.
